Dr. Brandon Michael Ross is the only hair restoration physician and surgeon in the U.S. with a degree in genetics. He was born and raised in San Diego and graduated salutatorian from La Jolla High School. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Genetics at University of California at Davis.
Dr. Ross was the recipient of multiple awards and scholarships for outstanding research in the field of genetics, and he discovered two new plant genes during his time there. He continued his studies at Tuffs University School of Medicine in Boston, where he attained his medical doctorate. While there, he also took advantage of the only 4-year MD/MBA program in the nation by studying business school at Tufts, Northeastern and Brandeis University during his medical school studies. As a topper, he also attained a Masters in Public Health while he was in Boston. During this time, he was a recipient of various merit scholarships and awards.
As a constant consumer of knowledge, Dr. Ross later decided go to law school and become a licensed attorney as well as a licensed physician and surgeon. He is the only person in the world who holds a degree in genetics, a masters in business administration, a masters in public health, a license with a juris doctorate, and a license with a medical doctorate.
Upon his return to San Diego, Dr. Ross completed his post-graduate training at Scripps Mercy Hospital, where he was born. While still in his 20s, Dr. Ross opened his first practice in 2001 specializing exclusively in Hair Restoration. This made him the youngest physician and surgeon in the U.S. specializing solely in hair transplants. He held that title for 6 years until another younger physician eventually took his spot on the mantle. During that time, Dr. Ross researched and made the discovery that platelet rich plasma (PRP) could help revitalized damaged hair follicles. During his research, he realized that the effects of platelet rich plasma only lasted for a few months, so he decided to stop bothering researching it further. He was more interested in finding a permanent solution for hair loss. Within six to seven years, nearly every medical office began offering PRP treatments to patients, with the caveat that they must continuously return for treatments for the benefits to be maintained.
Today, Dr. Ross is internationally recognized and respected among patients and physicians for the quality and outcome of his work and his patient care. His wit and bedside manner are well acclaimed. Most of the patients Dr. Ross treats are referrals, which is a testament to the quality of care he provides and his remarkable surgical results.
Having started his hair restoration career in 2001, Dr. Ross is now the most experienced and knowledgeable hair transplant surgeon in California. Having performed more than 6,200 hair restoration surgeries, it is likely that he has performed more surgeries than anyone else in the United States. With 25 years of experience and having the education, creativity, and knowledge to treat each patient on an individual basis, he is able to maximize their results.
Dr. Ross is also an attorney at law and specializes in helping people who have been harmed. While he takes short breaks in improving peoples’ lives and self confidence with his medical work, he often serves as a medical expert witness and specializes in medical malpractice and personal injury cases.
Because Dr. Ross cares about our community, he supports various organizations by volunteering and doing pro bono legal work. Dr. Ross is the founder of the Children’s Hair Restoration Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides free medical services for youths who have sustained traumatic hair loss from injuries and other causes such as radiation treatments during cancer therapies.
Dr. Ross is also a voting board member for the East County YMCA division. While he takes pride in strengthening and bettering his community every day, he does enjoy his wonderful tight-knit family with his beautiful wife and four children. When he finds time, he is still able to sneak away to golf with his buddies and watch Padres games with his parents and brother.
